Divepoint Scuba & Adventure Center - New Store Name
Many new and interesting things are happening here at Divepoint Scuba & Adventure Center.
Did you notice our name? We are in the process of changing Divepoint Scuba to Divepoint
Scuba & Adventure Center. First let me give you a little background. In 1981 Peter Butt
started Central Wisconsin’s first PADI dive center in Hunter’s Corner located in Downtown
Stevens Point. Hunter’s Corner closed their doors in 1984 and Pete moved to Florida.
In 1985 Pete’s youngest brother Bob took over the dive center and opened Divepoint Scuba
on Post Road in Plover. Shortly after opening he met Carrie Favor, they were married in 1987.
Divepoint relocated 3 times in the Plover area before moving to Isadore Street in 1990.
In 1994 Bob and Carrie took a scuba diving trip to Hawaii and discovered kayaking.
They wanted to sell kayaks, but did not have the space. That is why they returned to
Historic Downtown Stevens Point. Divepoint Scuba has evolved into an outdoor adventure center
with scuba, snorkeling, kayaking, swimwear and climbing equipment. Bob and Carrie feel the
name no longer defines what we are all about. Scuba has been, and always will be, Divepoint's
main focus. Divepoint Scuba & Adventure Center looks forward to being
your outdoor adventure center for many years to come.
Divepoint remains your full service PADI Dive Center with 20 years
experience and expertise. We carry the areas largest selection of
high quality diving and snorkeling equipment. Our instructors teach
scuba classes year round for beginners to specialty courses, in a
variety of locations through out central Wisconsin.

Luxfer Scuba Tank Trade-in
Luxfer Gas Cylinders has announced a new scuba tank trade-in program to enable owners of older Luxfer
scuba tanks manufactured in the US from 6351 aluminum alloy to trade in their tanks and receive a $50.00
credit toward purchase of new scuba tanks made from Luxfer’s proven proprietary 6061 alloy. Tanks manufactured
from 1972 to June, 1988 are included in this program. Locate the original hydrostatic test date on your
tank to see if you are eligible for the trade-in program. The tanks will need to be returned to Luxfer
to receive the $50.00 credit. We at Divepoint Scuba are organizing a bulk shipment from our store to help
reduce the cost of shipping. Please contact us if you will to be part of this shipment. We recently
discovered aluminum tanks manufactured by Walter Kidde will also be replaced, for more information on
this contact Bob.
Local Dive Club
Don’t forget to check out Central Wisconsin Dive Club’s
web site at www.divewisconsin.net,
they are planning many different group dives this summer. The club
continues to grow and they welcome all divers.

New Store Front
Divepoint will also get a new face lift this summer. We will be renovating and restoring our old store front.
The old Shippy building was built in 1874 and was the 5th stone building built in Downtown Stevens Point.
Bob and Carrie wish to restore the building’s front to the original stone and brick. The store will be
open during all the renovation, so keep in mind the loading zone and newer door located on the west side
of the building. Bring scuba and paint ball tanks to this door for air fills.
Spring Break, Mexico Style
Spring Break in Mexico was Awesome, we had so much fun we are going back this fall. Divepoint is planning
2 trips to Cozumel Mexico this fall. We are planning on October 25th thru November 1st and again
November 22nd thru the 29th. We are currently working on prices. We stayed at the Reef Club Cozumel,
an all inclusive family resort with a PADI dive shop on the premises. We had a wonderful time diving
and soaking up the sun, not to mention the eating at the all you can eat buffet. Reef Club has 3
restaurants and 3 swimming pools, hotel rooms and suites all located on the beach on the west side of
the island of Cozumel. The kids had fun swimming, playing tennis, kayaking, playing on the beach,
snorkeling, dancing, painting pottery, and ordering kids tropical drinks at the all you can drink bar.
The smaller kids were entertained by the no-charge day care staff that is available to anyone who stays
at the Reef Club. We look forward to you joining us this fall. We are holding rooms for 30 people, so
call if you are interested in joining us.
